Rowley Park Barrier Access - Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Rowley Park! We are here to help you navigate our barrier access system.
Here's everything you need to know:
1. How do I change my fob battery?
You can download step-by-step instructions here: [Link to Instructions]
2. How do I register for barrier access?
Please email barrier@rowleypark.net, and we'll provide you with the registration details.
3. What are the access options?
We offer four convenient methods:
o Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR): Register your vehicle's number plate, and the barrier will open automatically as you approach.
o Fob: A handheld remote control for quick and easy access.
o Dongle: A keyring device that you hold near the reader for short-range access (up to 1 meter).
o Swipe Card: A credit card-style swipe card for short-range access (up to 1 meter), primarily for backup use.
4. What is the purpose of the barrier?
The barrier helps reduce through-traffic from non-residents, ensuring a safer and more peaceful environment for Rowley Park residents.
5. Why doesn't my old red/grey fob work?
The old receiver is no longer supported. We installed a new system in 2023 with enhanced security features.
The old system also had issues with cloned fobs, which compromised security and contributed to excessive through-traffic.
6. I've just moved into Rowley Park. How do I access the barrier?
The previous homeowner should have provided you with the necessary fobs, dongles, or swipe cards.
If not, please email barrier@rowleypark.net with your address, and we'll arrange access. We will deactivate the previous owners access.
7. Who manages the barrier?
The Rowley Park Survey Committee, a group of volunteer residents, manages the barrier.
Please be patient when communicating with us bearing in mind most members work full time and have there own families and personal lives.
We appreciate your patience as we work on a not-for-profit basis in our spare time.
8. I'm moving out of Rowley Park. What should I do?
Please email barrier@rowleypark.net to inform us of the new homeowner's details and hand over the access devices as part of your exchange.
9. I rent a property in Rowley Park. What should I do?
Please have your landlord or managing agent contact us directly to arrange access.
10. How do I use my swipe card?
The swipe card is a backup option. If the ANPR or fob fails, simply hold the card against the reader. The barrier will open and you can make your way through.
11. Why doesn't the ANPR always work?
Like any technology, ANPR has limitations:
o Number plates must be clear and unobstructed.
o Damage or debris can interfere with reading.
o Weather conditions can affect camera visibility.
o Radio interference can disrupt signals.
o Following too close to the car in-front can obstruct the view.
o Non DVLA approved number plates can cause issues.
We hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at barrier@rowleypark.net.
